TikTok’s New “Discover List” Spotlights Top Creators

TikTok says it took a “community-driven” approach to select creators for its list, which includes the likes of Bella Poarch and Jalaiah Harmon

Today, TikTok debuted “The Discover List,” an inaugural list that spotlights 50 TikTok stars across five categories as a means to honor their hard work and give credit to originators of viral trends on the platform.

According to TikTok:

“Creators are the heart and soul of TikTok. From the pioneers driving change, to the tastemakers whipping up one-of-a-kind creations in the kitchen, to the trendsetters originating cultural moments, we’re honored that such an incredible group of creators has found a home on TikTok. That’s why we created The Discover List: our first-ever list highlighting TikTok stars who are changing the game in their respective lanes — and beyond.”

Get to know some of the creators on TikTok’s Discover List:

Changemakers

Creators who speak up and speak out. Among the changemakers: @scarlet_may1, a deaf creator who makes skits and ASL covers, and @team2moms, a two-mom family who create videos to inspire LGBTQ+ youth.

Icons

Creators who are a culture within themselves. Among the icons: @bellapoarch, the world’s fourth-biggest TikTok star with over 81 million followers and @brittany_broski, who currently hosts TikTok’s official podcast, “For You Podcast.”

Innovators

Creators who bring a new twist to art, fashion, beauty and more. Among them: @8illy, who’s known for his cardboard art short films and @parkerlocke, a 20-year-old self-taught 3D and visual effects artist.

Foodies

Creators who are going above and beyond in the food space. Among the foodies: @thesweetimpact, an IT professional turned cake artist and @violet.cooks, a college senior known for her easy healthy dorm recipes.

Originators

Creators who have started viral dances, sounds, aesthetics and more. Among the originators: Jalaiah is a 16-year-old Georgia native and the original creator of the Renegade dance, plus @makayladid, who coined the viral sound “Girl, Don’t Do It…I Did It!” on TikTok.

To create the Discover List, TikTok’s community team nominated creators, looking at metrics such as engagement, views, video creations, account growth, likes and interactions with followers. In addition, TikTok analyzed which creators and content “have sparked conversations both on and off the app,” according to the announcement.
